Shelter

Underground car park of McDonald
satellite project for Mis-design Ian Potter Museum of Art, 2011

Slow Art Collective’s installation Shelter was featured in the undergroundcar park of McDonald’s Restaurant on Smith Street in Collingwood. Slow Art Collective built and installed a makeshift dwelling, filming the process and streaming it live to the Potter. Bunkering down in a subterranean landscape designed to be a transit zone Slow Art Collective asked customers to pause and consider the contingency of human welfare upon the built environment, the nature of ephemeral dwellings, and the purposes to which design might be used.
