Weave and Shout! :Hong Kong

 Weave and Shout! CHAT project

Curated by Mizuki Takahashi, Centre of Heritage for Art and Textile, Hong Kong 2026

Presenting in the main gallery for Weave and Shout!—a group exhibition alongside artists Agus Nur Amal PM Toh and Chan Wai Lap—Slow Art Collective created a major site-specific installation that directly engaged with CHAT’s textile heritage and industrial architecture.

Designed as an interactive, multisensory space, the installation welcomed a diverse public over the summer, bringing together children, families, youth, and older generations. In a context where fully participatory contemporary art installations remain rare in Hong Kong, the project received an exceptionally warm response, transforming the exhibition space into a buzzing hub of collective weaving, sound exploration, and play. The seamless collaboration and creative dialogue between the three exhibiting artists made this exhibition a remarkable success.

Our room was designed into two rooms:
PSC / Polychromic Sonic Club:
An interactive sound space where visitors drop tennis balls into a network of pipes and interact with pots, pans, and drums.
ESP / Energy Spectrum Party: A large bamboo weaving structure where visitors use yarns, ropes, and fabrics to weave and knot together.
